During the great churning of ocean in the ancient times, a pot of nectar was generated from the ocean of milk. This pot of nectar became the object of fight between the devatas & rakshasas. Garuda snatched away the pot from demons and flew away. While he was flying away, few drops fell into four places on this Earth which later became the grand site of Kumbha Mela.
Kumbha Mela commemorates victory of good over evil, the victory of devatas over rakshas. This celestial event celebrates 7 avataras of Lord Vishnu, for the protection of devatas. During the Maha Kumbha, the nectar falls in 4 places thus converting those tirthas into special waters during those days. Anyone who takes bath in Prayagraj during the Maha Kumbha Mela Tour achieves moksha or liberation. That is guaranteed.
