Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple, Narasinghapuram
This ancient temple is dedicated to Sri Narasimha and to His consort Mother Lakshmi and dates to the era of Cholas and Vijayanagara Rayas. Here, Lord Narasimha is in a ‘Shanta Swaroop’ and has a smiling face. This Deity is said to be Varaprasadi (boon giver). This place is the worship for liberation from Naga Dosha, debts and all kinds of illness/diseases.
The deity also has the name ‘Sri Kalyana Lakshmi Narasimhar’ since holds Mother Lakshmi closely (Aalinganam). Here Garuda is about four feet of height and has sixteen serpents adorning his body as jewels. The Lord is also called ‘Sri Kalyana Lakshmi Narasimha’ as He performs ‘aalinganam’ – holding Sri Lakshmi very closely. In the temple, Mahalakshmi is seated on Lord Narasimha’s lap and is facing the devotees to bless them. This posture of Lord Narasimha and Mahalakshmi is called ‘Paraspara Alinganman’ meaning both are embracing each other as compared to other temples where only Mahalakshmi appears in an embracing posture.
Temple Structure
The temple is a perfect epitome of the Vijayanagar style with elegantly carved and sculpted pillars, as the temple has writings ranging back to the rule of Chola kings. Archaeologists believe those writings in the Andal temple’s basement as more primeval and belongs to the era of Kulothunga Chozha I and Vikrama Chozha I.

This temple celebrates several festivals out of which the primary festivals celebrated are Narasimha Jayanti in Chitrai month, Adi Pooram (Andal’s Jayanti), Sri Ramanavami and a special Thirumanjanam (ceremonial bath) in the month of Karthik.
