The eight hundred years old Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Nuggehalli was constructed by the Hoysala Army Commander named Bommanna Dandanayaka, under the rulership of King Veera Someshwara in the 12th Century AD.
The temple is constructed in the Trikuta fashion, with three Garbha grihas within the main temple. Lord Lakshmi Narasimha, Lord Venugopala and Sri Keshava adorn the three garbhas of the temple. Although the main temple of this village is Sri Someshwara, the Lakshmi Narasimha temple Nuggehalli became famous as the Deity of Lakshmi Narasimha Temple here is very powerful and has helped a lot of devotees.
The temple is constructed on a raised star shaped platform. The exterior walls of Lakshmi Narasimha Temple Nuggehalli are embellished with the intricate panels depicting the incidences from Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Puranas. There is no specific timing of this temple to visit for the darshan. The temple opens at 6 am for daily worship and closes by 12 pm. It opens again at 6 pm and closes by 8 pm. The worship is done as per the Vaikhanasa system of worship. The Rathotsava festival is celebrated on a very grand scale in the temple.
Other festivals like Sri Krishna Janmashtami, Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Ramanuja Nakshatra are celebrated with pomp in the temple. As is the system with the other ancient temples of Karnataka, the temple is almost in the neglected stage as very few devotees visit the temple.
