“I had a great experience. Very much refreshing and a great break from our daily routine. Apart from the site-seeing it was very much of enlightenment for us about our culture and religion. Overall I loved it.” Says Surabhi J N, a BBA-LLB Student, about our weekend tour to Karighatta and Maddur.
Surabhi was one among the 22 yatris who joined this pilgrimage tour. Our 4th tour to Karighatta and Maddur was a great success. The tour originated from Bengaluru at 6 am and culminated at Begaluru at 9 pm. Special pick-ups and drops were arranged for yatris.
Firstly we visited Sri Varadaraja Swamy temple in Maddur. Then breakfast prasadam. Kadamba, curd-rice and sakare Pongal was the menu. It was very satisfying to belly. After that we had abhisheka darshan of Sri Ugra Narasimha Swamy Temple in Maddur. A sankalpa was performed for all the devotees. It was a lifetime experience to have darshan of the Lord’s form while the abhisheka was going on. Another yatri named Madhusudan who is an entrepreneur describes his abhisheka experience as follows:
“Thanks a lot for giving this great opportunity of me being the part of this trip. I had a memorable day and awesome darshan. Prasadam was awesome and tasty. My dream of 3 years came true of visiting Maddur Ugra Narasimha Temple and abhisheka there. Thanks a lot for it.”
Soon after the abhisheka we all moved to Karighatta and had darshan of Sri Srinivasa Govinda atop the hill. In the temple hall, we all performed bhajans for the pleasure of the Lord. Bhajans satisfy our souls. Hear what Malliga Shankar, an Income Tax Officer has to say about this:
“The yatra was very soothing for the soul with bhajans. Thank you, Tirtha Yatra for conducting this yatra.”
We then spent some time on the banks of Lokapavani River. Some yatris also relaxed themselves on a small island in between the river. Having refreshed, we moved to Sri Gunja Narasimha Swamy temple nearby. Situated on the banks of river Kaveri and in the midst of paddy fields, this temple is very ancient and unknown to people. The Deity of Sri Gunja Narasimha was established by Sri Bhrigu Muni. However the beauty of this place was amazing. Hear what Vani Mahesh, a professor in PESIT wants to say about this:
“It was a very pleasant yatra. Our yatra director was patient and explained aptly. The travel was comfortable. Good scenic places and beautiful temples.”
We then returned to Bengaluru. Well, we forgot to tell you about our lunch prasadam in Sri Gunja Narasimha Temple. The menu was Puliogre, carrot-sabji, beans-sabji, kosambari, rice, sambar, rasam, curds, buttermilk, bhajji, pickle and papad. It was really tasty and awesome.
