Bhavishya Badri is one of the Sapta Badri Kshetras. The others being Adi Badri, Yogadhyana Badri, Vriddha Badri, Dhyana Badri, Narasimha Badri and Vishala Badri. All these temples are situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. All these temples are established by Adi Shankaracharya and the vigrahas worshiped in these temples are swayambhu i.e, self-manifested.
Lord Narayana performed various lilas in the sacred Kedar Khand. Through these lilas He manifested His seven forms in Uttarakhand which are known as Sapta Badri. A devotee of Lord Badrinath with spiritual craving must visit all these seven temples to complete one’s Badrinath Yatra.
Bhavishya Badri is still emerging out
Beyond Jyotirmath in the Subhai village is the temple of Lord Bhavishya Badri which is of 8th century. But this is not where our journey ends. It goes beyond this village in the forest of blue pine, under the string of Himalayan mountains. There lies a temple of Bhavishya Badri in solitude.
Inside this simple cave like temple is the shila from which the Badri Panchayat is emerging. Badri Panchayat means the vigraha of Lord Badri Vishal and His associates. As per the locals, this shape is growing and slowly becoming clear. Until now no one knows about these personalities in the stone.
This is going to be the Bhavishya Badri and Lord Narayana’s vigraha in Padmasana is getting manifested in this temple. After the route to Badrinath is blocked, this place will be famed as Badrinath. The shape on this shila is estimated to be hundred years old and it was first noted by the cowherd men in this area.
As per the Puranas, this is the place where Agastya Muni worshiped Lord Narayana. Pleased by his service, Lord Narayana had exclaimed that when in Kali-yuga, Badrinath will become inaccessible to devotees, Lord Badrinath will be worshiped here. There is the presence of Tapta Kunda nearby as well.
This is a very uncommon place frequented by Gandharvas, Kinnaras and Yakshas. There are many such uncommon incidents or stories narrated by the locals which are scary to hear and at the same time prove that Uttarakhand is Devbhoomi. The site is also frequented by the wild animals. Bhavishya Badri is the treasure house of rare herbs which generally attracts smugglers.
Devotees from the Subhai village are worshipers of Lord Badrinath in Bhavishya Badri. These devotees are supported by the villagers as well as sages living in this area. The worship occurs as per the timing standards of Badrinath Temple i.e, darshan is available only for 6 months.
What shastras say about Bhavishya Badri?
praayah kalau manushyaanaam gamyaa badari bhavet yavad vishnur mahi prshthe yavad ganga maheshwari
taavad vai badri gamya durgamyaa ca tatah param badarinaatha yaatraam vai karishyati bahih sthalaat
gandhamaadana dakshe ca paarshve muni janapriye puline dhavalaayaa vai badari tatra vishruta
As Kali-yuga progresses, Badrinath will be difficult to access. Until when Lord Vishnu and Ganga devi resides on this Earth, Badrinath will be accessible for darshan. After Ganga Devi disappears, people from outside will not be able to have darshan of Badrinath. Then in the south of Gandhamadana Parvata which is very dear to sages, on the banks of River Dhauli Ganga, Lord Badrinath will make His abode. (Kedar Khanda, Skanda Purana)
The Sanat Kumar Samhita states that when the arm of Lord Narasimha in Joshimath will detach itself from the body of the Lord, the way to current Badrinath will get destroyed. Then devotees will go to Bhavishya Badri for darshan.
During the nirmalya darshan of Lord Narasimhadev in Jyotirmath, one can see that Lord’s arm has grown very thin. It is almost of the size of a needle now. When this arm of the Lord detaches from the body by itself, Lord Badrinath will be worshiped in Bhavishya Badri.
How to reach Bhavishya Badri?
It is very hard for me to explain how to reach Bhavishya Badri. The best way I can suggest is to join me on the Badrinath Yatra which covers Sapta Badri Temples. All the arrangements, travel hassles, sattvic food, everything is well taken care off. Mostly important our team shall ensure that the temples are open for darshan.
If you are adventurous and want to brave off the travel, here are the means.
